Altındere Valley National Park is located in the Maçka district of Trabzon province on the Black Sea. Many different kinds of plants and animals live here. Altındere Valley has been a national park since 1987. Sumela Monastery, one of the important historical buildings of Trabzon and built in the 4th century AD, is also located in this national park. In addition, Sumela Monastery was built about 1300 meters above the sea. It fascinates those who see it with its beautiful view and architecture.
Approximately 909.5 hectares of the area of the Altındere Valley National Park is forested. The 3812 hectare area is used as pasture by the people here. For those who like trekking, there is a 65-kilometer-long forest road and a 2605-kilometer-long plateau path in the region.
