Aynalıkavak Pavilion

The building, which has been adorned to the shores of the Golden Horn since the 17th century and is now known as Aynalıkavak Pavilion, is the only example of the group of structures known as “Aynalıkavak Palace” or “Shipyard Palace” in the Ottoman Empire Period. From the historical sources, it is understood that the region has a resting place belonging to the emperors during the Byzantine Period. After the conquest of Istanbul by Fatih Sultan Mehmed (1444-1481), this great grove, which attracted the attention of the Ottoman sultans, began to be called “Shipyard Hasbahçe’ because of the Ottoman Shipyard established in the region.

The history of the first construction in Hasbahçe descended until the Fatih Sultan Mehmed period, and the first pasum known as being built here is dated to the period of Sultan Ahmed I (1603-1617). These structures, which developed with the pads built by the sultans in the historical process and are known as the “Shipyard Palace ;; Starting from the 17th century, it was also called “Aynalıkavak Palace ..

Sultan III. Ahmed (1703-1730), which was thought to have been built during the period of Aynalıkavak Pavilion, Sultan III. Selim (1789-1807) was reorganized by seeing a great repair and gained its present appearance. The only structure of the national palaces consisting of 19th century palace, pavilions and pavilions is extremely privileged with its traditional architecture and decoration features, which is the only structure that has come to the present day. His poems praising Selim were written by calligraphy Mehmed al -Yesârî with ta‘lîk line. It contains many elements of the Selim period culture. Revzenli hill windows, wide eating roofs, built -in cedar arrangements found in interior decoration, and barbecues that make up the traditional heating form are now exhibited.

The lower floor of Aynalıkavak Pavilion, which was opened to visitors on 5 November 2010, was completed and the restoration and furnishing works were completed. It has been turned into a museum in which Selim's artist and musician personality were exhibited in accordance with the personality of the historical Turkish instruments.
