Hisarlar Museum
Hisarlar Museum; It includes Rumelihisarı, Yedikulehisarı and Anadoluhisarı. The Rumeli Fortress, located within the borders of Istanbul Sarıyer District, was built by Fatih Sultan Mehmet in 1452. The purpose of the construction of the fortress is to prevent the aid that may come to the city from the north of the Bosphorus and to prevent possible attacks when Istanbul besieged.
Rumeli Fortress, which was built in as little as four months directly opposite Anadolu Hisarı, covers an area of 30 decares and consists of three big towers and walls. The timber used in its construction was obtained from Izmit and Karadeniz Ereğli, the stones were obtained from different parts of Anatolia, and the spolies (reused stone pieces) were obtained from the ruined Byzantine structures in the surrounding area.
There are four main gates namely the Mountain Gate, Dizdar Gate, Hisarpeçe Gate and the Flood Gate, and a secondary gate called the Cemetery Gate. Three big towers named Saruca Pasha, Halil Pasha and Zağanos Pasha and a small one named Zaganos Pasha, a total of four towers; There are 13 large and small signs.
There is an open display in the garden of the museum; There is no indoor exhibition hall and warehouse. In the open display in the garden of the museum, besides the balls, roses, terracotta and stone works, a part of the chain that is said to close the Golden Horn awaits its visitors.
In addition, with the open theater structure added to the fortress during the restoration, Rumeli Fortress hosts various events during the summer period, by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, by allocating it to various institutions and organizations.
