It is one of the most magnificent and important monumental structures in Anatolia that has survived intact from the Early Byzantine Period.
Built by the Byzantine Emperor Justinian in 558-560 AD, this stone bridge is 365 meters long, 9.85 meters wide and has a total of 12 arches. At the western end of the bridge, there is a trace of an arch, at the eastern end there is a structure with an apse and the remains of a vaulted structure related to the bridge.
The Justinian Bridge was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List in 2018.
