The Virgin Mary Church in Cumhuriyet Square belongs to the Assyrian Catholic Community. Built in 1986 by Antakya Patriarch Ignatios Antuhan Semheri, the church has arches, round stone columns and railings in the courtyard. The patriarchate was built in 1895. In 1988, the patriarchate was transferred to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, restored and has been used as a museum since 1995. The patriarch's seat and the place for preaching the Gospel are decorated with grape cluster motifs.
