Sera Lake is an important natural beauty of Trabzon and Akçaabat. It is located within the borders of Yıldızlı neighborhood, 12 km from Trabzon and 8 km from Akçaabat. Its length is 1200 m. Its width is an average of 150 m. and the deepest place is 20 m. Sera Lake is a landslide lake that was formed in 1950 as a result of the landslide on the slope of the slope, blocking the sera stream.

In 2010, it was declared a Natural Park and a public park arrangement was made, and there are daily recreational facilities for local and foreign visitors around the lake, where walking and picnicking can be done. Sera Lake, which is among the places to visit in Trabzon, is considered the starting point of the Eastern Black Sea tour.

Sera Lake Location, History and Formation
Sera Lake is a landslide embankment lake located within the borders of Akçaabat district of Trabzon. The lake was formed in the Derecik Valley between the municipalities of Yıldızlı and Derecik. It was named after Sera, the old name of Yıldızlı, which is within its borders.

The lake was formed on Tuesday, February 21, 1950 as a result of excessive rainfall on Tuesday, February 21, 1950, when large rocks breaking off from the slopes of the Derecik Valley blocked the valley floor. Some of the fragments are so large that even today you can see the areas where the ruptures occurred. The ruptures caused deep cliffs in the valley and on the day of the ruptures a small local earthquake occurred.

The mass that broke off from the mountain is 30 m wide, 650 m long, 130 m high and 15 million m3 in size. The lake was fully formed in 18 days and the local people witnessed the formation of a lake themselves.
