Surmene Pita
The famous Trabzon Pita made with minced meat and cheese is among the unchanging food of weekend breakfasts, especially in winter months.
Sürmene Pide is a pita made in Sürmene district since the 1940s. The product is prepared by adding village cheese (salty cheese) and butter, one of the local flavors, to the dough rolled out circularly by hand. One of the most important features of the product is the use of cheese and butter, which is prepared only from the milk of the animals fed with the grass cut in the pasture and highlands of the region, and the feed obtained by drying them in Sürmene district. Sürmene Pidesi has been registered and geographical indication by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office.
