Tortum Waterfall

The waterfall made by Tortum Lake as it crosses the landslide mass between the northern end of the lake and the Tev Valley. Here the waters of the goner pass over the resistant limestone layers close to the bed. Water falling from a height of 48 meters from a width of 22 meters has created a rainbow at the top and a huge Giant Cauldron at the bottom. There are beautiful picnic areas where the waterfall flows.

From the place where the waterfall flows, to the Giant Cauldron at the bottom, with iron railing, very long stone stairs descend, crossing the Tortum Stream over the wooden bridge, and the Tortum Hydroelectric Power Plant site is reached with the one on the opposite side of the same stairs. In the place called Giant Cauldron, when the waterfalls flow, the rain created by the waterfall water cools the people in the summer heat.

Vietorio Falls on the Zambezi River in Africa is the highest waterfall in the world with a height of 120 meters, Niagara Falls between Lake Erie and Lake Ontario in the USA is the second highest waterfall with a height of 51 meters, and the third highest waterfall in the world with a height of 48 meters is Tortum Waterfall in Uzundere district. It is the second most important waterfall in the world.

A Hydroelectric Power Plant was built in Tortum Waterfall between 1952-1960 and started to contribute to the electricity need of our country.

The Sudokulen Waterfall, which is located on the forest road of Yayla Mahallesi next to the Uzundere creek bed of Uzundere district center, is at an altitude of 15 meters and its refreshing water flows.
